Yes, it was always likely that Google would try to factor UX in as soon as they had the technology to do so. Frightningly we still see that same sorts of questions I referred to all those years ago, from people who still think that SEO is a bolt-on. The holistic view is always the way to stay ahead of the algorithm instead of chasing it.
